# Stan Store alternatives for creators

Stan Store's checkout is what you are paying for and it is good: courses, memberships, bookings and downloads sold from one mobile-first page at 0% platform fee, so you keep everything except processor fees. Creators leave over the price shape rather than the product. It is $29/mo with a 14-day trial and no free plan, discount codes and order bumps sit on the $99/mo Creator Pro tier, and a fixed subscription is a hard cost against variable sales. The alternatives split by what you sell: Gumroad at 10% plus $0.50 per sale with no monthly fee, Payhip free at 5%, Beacons free with a 9% cut. If you are not actually selling your own products, none of those are for you either, and usecode.sh is free and does codes and links only.

## What Stan Store is genuinely good at

The checkout is the product and it converts. One mobile-first storefront handles digital downloads, courses, memberships and bookings without you assembling a funnel out of three tools, and the platform takes 0% of what you sell. Creator Pro adds upsells and order bumps, payment plans through Afterpay and Klarna, affiliate management, email automation and pixel tracking for Meta, Google, Pinterest and TikTok. If you sell your own products at any real volume, $29 is not the expensive part of your month. Nothing below replaces that checkout. They replace its price shape.

## The reasons creators actually leave, and what fixes each

| Why you are leaving | What actually fixes it | Cost |
| --- | --- | --- |
| $29/mo before you have made a sale | Gumroad or Payhip, which charge per sale instead of per month | Nothing monthly |
| Discount codes are gated to Creator Pro | Gumroad, where discount codes are documented as a standard feature and there are no tiers to buy | 10% plus $0.50 per sale |
| You wanted a free plan, not a 14-day trial | Payhip Free at 5%, or Beacons Free at 9% | Free, with a cut |
| You do not sell your own products at all | usecode.sh, where brand codes are the whole page and there is no checkout to pay for | Free |

The first two rows are settled by arithmetic. Stan's $29/mo costs the same as Gumroad's 10% at about **$290 a month** in sales, and the same as Payhip's 5% at about **$580 a month**, ignoring flat per-sale fees. Below those numbers the per-sale platforms are cheaper; above them a fixed subscription is the better shape and keeps improving as you grow. The $99/mo Pro tier is the harder call: if you upgraded only to run discount codes on your own products, a platform where codes are a standard feature does the same job for the price of a percentage.

## The alternatives in one line each

- **Gumroad.** No subscription: 10% plus $0.50 per direct transaction, 30% on buyers its Discover marketplace sends you, and it acts as merchant of record so sales tax is handled worldwide. Discount codes are standard and documented, with validity windows, quantity limits, minimum spend and separate rules for memberships. The trade is a percentage that never stops scaling.
- **Payhip.** Free forever at 5% per transaction, Plus $29/mo at 2%, Pro $99/mo at 0%, with its pricing page putting all features on every plan. That is the exact opposite of gating discount codes behind a $99 tier, and the free plan means you can leave before your next Stan renewal rather than after it.
- **Beacons.** Free, with a store, media kit, email and affiliate links, at a 9% cut on store sales and affiliate earnings that only clears at Creator Plus, $30/mo. Broader than Stan and less focused than Stan. The fee arithmetic is on [Beacons alternatives](/compare/beacons-alternatives).
- **usecode.sh.** Not a storefront and not becoming one. Codes and their links, free, with views, shop taps and code copies counted per card.

## What you have to redo when you switch

1. Rehouse everything you have already sold. Course content, files and the access links your buyers hold are hosted by Stan, so migrating means moving the files and re-inviting people who have already paid you.
2. Plan for re-subscribes. Recurring memberships and payment plans are billing relationships on the platform you are leaving. Ask the destination in writing whether it can import active subscriptions, and assume it cannot, because this is the single most expensive step of leaving any checkout.
3. Reissue every live discount code. A code is a per-platform object, so a code your audience is holding stops working the moment checkout moves.
4. Rebuild booking links and the calendar connection behind them, then update them everywhere you posted them.
5. Change the public URL everywhere and leave the old store live pointing at the new one until the traffic dries up.
6. Re-do the tax setup deliberately. Stan's published fees are your own Stripe or PayPal processor charges, while Gumroad publishes that it acts as merchant of record and handles sales tax worldwide. Those are different obligations, not just different prices, and it is worth an hour with whoever does your taxes.

## What usecode.sh does not do

usecode.sh cannot replace Stan Store and does not try. There is no checkout, so nothing can be sold through it: no courses, no memberships, no downloads, no bookings, no payment plans, no funnels, no email automation. It does codes and the links attached to them, and it counts page views, shop taps and code copies, which is code interest and copy activity rather than redemptions or sales. It belongs on this page for one reason: a lot of creators pay $29/mo for a checkout they never use, because what they actually do is hand out brand codes.

## Honest limits and unverified points

- Stan's figures come from its official pricing post, because stan.store/pricing was serving an under-construction page at review time. The source below is the authority and prices change.
- The break-even numbers are arithmetic on published rates, not forecasts, and they ignore flat per-sale fees and payment processing.
- No platform here publishes whether it can import an existing subscriber base. Treat migration of active memberships as unverified until your destination confirms it in writing.
- Stan's checkout, funnels and payment handling are real product value that none of this diminishes; the argument here is about price shape and about creators who are not selling anything.
- Stan Store, Gumroad, Payhip and Beacons are trademarks of their owners. This is an independent comparison, verified on the date shown, and implies no endorsement.
