How to share promo codes on TikTok

Reviewed by the usecode.sh team on

On TikTok the code IS the mechanism: video descriptions and comments are not clickable, and the bio link requires 1,000 followers on a personal account. Say the code out loud, show it on screen, and point everyone at one bio link that holds every code, because that link is the only tappable thing you own on the platform.

What you will end up with

A code that works on a platform where nothing in the video is tappable: spoken, shown, and waiting behind the one clickable link you are allowed.

Step by step

  1. Speak the code and show it on screen

Do this in every video where the deal matters. Viewers cannot tap anything in the video itself, so the code has to survive as sound and as pixels.

  2. Point to the bio, and make the URL say itself

One stable link is all TikTok gives you. usecode.sh/yourname reads out loud as a sentence, which matters on a platform where the address is spoken more often than it is typed.

  3. Lead each card with the code, link underneath

On the page, the code is the headline of its card and the shop link sits below it, so the viewer who wants to type and the viewer who wants to tap both convert without hunting.

  4. Rotate Shop affiliate links by editing the card

TikTok caps commission eligibility on a generated link at 100 days, after which you regenerate it. Change the card, never the bio, and every old video keeps pointing somewhere that still pays you.

TikTok's link reality

  • Bio link: personal accounts generally need 1,000 followers for the clickable website field; business accounts get it without the minimum but are limited to commercial music. One link either way.
  • Descriptions and comments: plain text only. A pasted URL does not become tappable.
  • On screen and out loud: fully in your control, which is why "use code SARAH20" spoken and shown for a few seconds is the standard move.

If you are a TikTok Shop affiliate

TikTok Shop gives affiliates three shareable link types: product links, showcase links, and campaign links, and they can be shared off-platform, including in another app's bio page. The catch TikTok states plainly: you can earn commission from a generated link for a maximum of 100 days, after which you must generate a new one. A code page that holds your current showcase link on a card makes that rotation a ten-second edit instead of a bio scavenger hunt.

Sellers can also create promo codes in Seller Center and share them as text on or off TikTok, so brand-side codes and affiliate links coexist; keep each brand's code and link together on one card.

What goes wrong

  • Pasting a link into a video description or comment and expecting a tap. Neither is clickable on TikTok.
  • Leaving a Shop affiliate link past its 100-day window. Nothing breaks visibly: the buyer still lands, and you simply stop earning.
  • Assuming the bio link is available. Personal accounts generally need 1,000 followers for the clickable website field, though business accounts get it without the minimum.

How to tell it worked

TikTok cannot tell you how many viewers used a code they heard. Copies on your page are the closest owned signal, and on this platform they routinely run ahead of taps, which is the point rather than a problem.
